Hackett: the story of success

• 1979. Jeremy Hackett met Ashley Lloyd-Jennings in the Portobello Road, London. Both of them were seeking for some nice second-hand clothing. This was the beginning of their successful business partnership. They started to sell the second-hand clothes after some repairs.

• 1983. The co-founders went on selling clothes and accessories for men found on antique markets and in house clearances. The first branded shop named Hackett was opened in the New King’s Road.

• 1986. It became obvious that the market demand had created the need for more offerings. Besides tailoring, Hackett runs sales of sportswear, ties and accessories. All of the listed items were sold in separate stores, and shortly thereafter the location became known as Hackett Cross.

• 1987. Hackett was involved in the sport of polo. The brand established its own polo team. Also a line of polo shirts for its players was launched. Soon they became very popular with the rest of Hackett’s customers.

• 1994. The brand produced its first line for kids and teens. It was called The Essential British Kids. It was created after numerous customers’ requests.

• 2005. The brand became the official sponsor of the famous Aston Martin Race team. From that day forth the trade mark has sold licensed sportswear and accessories for professional racers.

• 2013. The brand opened its largest store in London. Apart from the selling space it includes a personal tailoring room and a Beefeater bar.
