Cedar Launches Procurement Practice to Help Make UK Businesses More Competitive

Cedar, a leading senior finance recruitment consultancy, has expanded its services to the procurement sector taking advantage of growing opportunities as UK businesses strive to be more competitive.
LONDON, April 11, 2016 – Senior finance recruitment specialist, Cedar, has unveiled its new specialist procurement practice to meet increased demand for procurement professionals within the private, public and not-for-profit sectors. The Regent Street-based consultancy will provide bespoke procurement recruitment solutions to organisations in the UK and internationally.
Cedar has appointed Louise Gapp to head up the new procurement arm of the business. Gapp is a highly experienced recruitment professional with significant experience in the procurement and supply chain sectors. Having worked previously for large international recruitment organisations she has built up an extensive client base, placing her in an extremely strong position for launching the new practice and expanding Cedar’s offering.
In today’s world of macro-economic uncertainty businesses need to become more agile in order to remain competitive. This need for greater agility has prompted companies to analyse their spend, evaluating all aspects of their supplier and agency relationships with a view to achieving costs savings and providing much needed insight for business process re-adjustments. Cedar has noticed that this has caused a spike in demand for senior procurement professionals.
Savings aren’t the only metric procurement and sourcing departments are focused on anymore. Many best-in-class organisations now focus procurement’s efforts on driving sustainability, managing supplier relationships and mitigating supply chain risks. Organisations are now realising the added value that well executed procurement initiatives bring to company-wide strategies, forcing them to increasingly rely on the procurement function (internal or outsourced) to become more competitive. Much like the finance function, procurement has evolved and is fast becoming an important strategic arm to organisations both large and small, something Gapp and Cedar hope to take advantage of.
Howard Bentwood, managing partner at Cedar, said: “By diversifying Cedar’s offering for the first time in our 13 year history, we are in a position to best serve the needs of our clients. Louise Gapp brings with her a wealth of recruitment knowledge along with industry-specific experience to complement Cedar’s existing presence in the senior finance recruitment market”.
Commenting on the launch of the new practice Louise Gapp said: “I am incredibly excited about the launch of the procurement practice at Cedar. Having recruited in the procurement and supply chain markets for over a decade I recognise the industry has changed considerably, leading to different requirements from clients. Cedar understand that UK procurement functions are under increasing pressure to work more effectively and efficiently to drive down costs and business expenditure – with increased demands and fewer resources. With this in mind we want to offer them proven and trusted recruitment solutions that are fundamentally based on quality service.”
Cedar’s new practice provides full procurement recruitment solutions across a number of sectors in the public, private and not-for-profit markets. The specialist procurement team focus on placing best-in-class procurement professionals into companies across the UK and internationally, on a contract, interim and permanent basis.
