Luxury womenswear brand showcases Escorial wool with best of British

This season sees a unique twist to New Zealand’s rare Escorial wool as it elegantly steps into the luxury loungewear market with a line of individually designed and exquisitely handcrafted Escorial wool and silk pyjama suits, smoking jackets and lounge coats. The creator, UK’s Paula Wilson, designer and founder of luxury womenswear brand Paula L Wilson will launch her exclusive collection at this week’s Best of Britannia event in London.
With a passion for detailed tailoring and luxury pyjamas the loungewear idea came to Wilson after years of working in fashion and travelling the world visiting factories and mills with many evenings spent on her laptop in far off hotel rooms from Beijing to Colombo. “At the end of each day I wanted to be able to slip into something gorgeous, refreshing and comfortable,” says Paula, “where I could still look good enough for supper at the hotel bar yet professional enough to skype the London office.”
Five years later together with her husband Tom, Paula L Wilson was born, each loungewear piece designed with a sophisticated feminine look with the modern discerning female in mind whilst accentuating the best of British craftsmanship. This luxurious fabric, a blend of Escorial wool and silk is woven at Stephen Walters & Sons of Sudbury, one of England’s oldest working mills, hosting nine generations of heritage and experience in crafting luxurious fabrics for customers all over the world.
Escorial wool, originating from the Spanish Royal flocks of El Escorial, has made a name around the world in luxury garments. The Escorial Company has been working with Stephen Walters since 2010 and the silk mill is the world’s exclusive silk jacquard weaver for this rare wool. Luxury Fabrics and Joshua Ellis of West Yorkshire have the exclusive licence to produce Escorial wool suiting’s, coatings and jacketing’s.
“I am excited for the future of Paula’s womenswear brand,” says Peter Radford, founder of Escorial wool. “Due to the characteristics of the Escorial fibre it combines perfectly with silk, you get a totally unique fabric that is the ultimate in luxury.”
Everything Paula L Wilson stands for is carefully considered and this week’s launch will showcase this coupled with the brands elegance and exclusivity. Wilson is especially passionate about British made, “I believe the British manufacturing industry is ready for a resurgence and can compete with the best in the world in skill and beautifully made luxury products, we are hugely excited to be working with Escorial wool and Stephen Walters on this endeavour.”
