About the Book:

I didn’t know what to make of them at the start, finding myself enmeshed in their curious lives. Beautiful young men risking death for us all. Because I loved them, I kept my promise never to reveal their special gift, never to speak of the women who also shared that unusual consciousness. Knowing their secret was a burden I had to bear. And as a witness to their different way of being, I learned to smile whilst my heart was breaking.”

– Angel

Excerpt from the book:

“Yet somehow, on that particular day, looking up at the circling shapes in the sky, I was more conscious than ever of what was happening in the Straits of Dover to the south as the crow flew. Perhaps it was that broadcast last evening I thought, as I guided the last reluctant animal through the gate towards the lush grass between the trees. My head was still full of that live account of the attack on the convoy. I could see us all sitting in the farmhouse, gripped by the screaming of the dive bombers, the rattle of the defending machineguns, the amazed urgency in the reporter’s voices, his enthusiasm as an enemy plane was hit, but above all else, the noise….. the noise….. it kept drumming into my head as though it were coming closer. Suddenly I became aware that it was no longer in my head, it was definitely coming closer. In fact it was too close for comfort.
